SUN CITY CENTER — A 92-year-old woman died early Sunday when a golf cart she was driving hit the side of a pickup truck in Sun City Center.

The woman, whose name authorities did not release, was heading north a little after 8 a.m. on Stoneham Drive, just south of Sun City Center Boulevard. At the intersection, the golf cart ran into the side of a pickup truck that was heading east, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died, troopers said.

The truck’s driver, 22 years old, and a passenger, 41 years old, were not injured. Neither man was named in a news release.

Neither alcohol nor excessive speed were believed to be a factor in the crash, a spokesperson for the Highway Patrol said.
