The Florida State pitcher is selected at No. 54 overall in the second round.
The fleet linebacker helped lead the Tigers to a state title last fall.
Messick is 54th on MLB’s prospect rankings, which would make him the highest selection in Plant City High history.
The Windermere native slugged home runs and beat out infield singles, and MLB.com ranks him as a top draft prospect,
